Oct 2011 – Dec 2012
I played a lead role as art director and writer in a collaborative independent film project with London-based comedy troupe The Dog Eared Collective. As well as initially getting the project started and co-creating the concept, my roles included scriptwriting, commissioning, scheduling, budgeting, prop design, crew management, light design, set dressing and styling. On a very tight budget and deadline, the film was produced to high quality broadcasting standards and was selected into national and international film festivals.

 A PRODUCTIONS, Bristol
A Liar’s Autobiography
Position: Art director and designer
Aug 2011 – Oct 2011
On this project I was the art director and designer for a section of the stereoscopic 3D animated biopic ‘A Liar’s Autobiography’ about the late Monty Python member Graham Chapman, produced by Bill and Ben Productions.
We were a small team commissioned to design, storyboard and animate the song section of the film. We worked closely at all stages of the production to ensure the vision was carried through from concept to finish without compromising the ideas, quality or technical requirements. As art director, my role was to design the look and the characters of the animation and liaise with the director, compositors and animators to ensure that the designs could be translated faithfully into animation and 3D stereoscopic within time and budget.

 A PRODUCTIONS, Bristol
Driver Dan’s Story Train
Position: Art Director
Dec 2010 – Feb 2012
After working as a freelance illustrator on the first series of Driver Dan’s Story Train commissioned by CBeebies, I was asked to join the team as Story Book Art Director for the second series.
Driver Dan’s Story Train is a 3D animated pre-school TV series featuring an illustrated storybook read out by the main character, followed by a ‘green screen’ live action element where children play and dance in the illustrations.
My job was to oversee the design of the storybook section and commission illustrators worldwide to produce 52 episodes.
My responsibilities included writing briefs, commissioning and directing illustrators and prepping the documents for animation.
I also assisted the Director with creative decisions on the green screen shoots and helped direct children on set.
Throughout this job I was always in close contact with the editor, the producers, director and animation directors to ensure that the artworks fit the animation and script requirements and that broadcasting standards were met.
During the period that I worked on the show, it was moved from daytime scheduling to the prime-time bedtime slot and won a lot of recognition. The series was broadcast in the UK, the US and the UAE.
